What year is my mariner???

I was told by the previos owner that my engine was a 1999 but have no proof of this and cant find it online.Its a mariner 3 cyl and i believe the serial number is 09818231. Can anyone tell me the year or where to find it.

I'm not going to spend hours trawling - but if put "mariner outboard serial numbers" into Google a variety of sources come up.

ur number falls into

9793577 > 9836632, from my two lists it is 1994, built in Belgium, sorry if that "bad" news..
