What year is my Mariner 6hp?

This is my first post so hi to all at ybw /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I have a Mariner 6hp outboard & I don't have a clue how old it is.
It has Mariner " six " on the engine hood & I can't find the serial number?
I've searched the web but have not seen this model anywhere yet.

Any help much appreciated /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

The iBoats forums are good for advice on outboards. You'll find separate boards for each make of engine.

This may not be helpful at all, but you never know. On my Honda 2.3, the serial number plate is revealed when you turn the tiller 180 degrees astern.

[/ QUOTE ] Probably equally unhelpful but on johnsons and evinrudes the model and serial numbers are on a plate on the mounting bracket. The model no. is also stamped on a core plug which may not be easily visible..

The website quoted by Landisillio will give you an idea what sort of number you are looking for.

If all else fails the guys on the iBoats forum will tell you where to look.
