First I'd try to convince Tutts that we really needed a 600 grand boat. Then I'd fall out with all the other buggers and get one big enough for me and SWMBO.

No one can force me to come here-----------

Martin im afraid if you want a speed of 20 knots plus then steel is really out of the question unless you take a tanker with you so how about this.

My first choice, Broom 50, or at a push 450 have big caterpillar engines excellent engineering and holds it value, also consider a Trader but dont expect the same sea keeping as the broom, theres also Princess and Fairline but they are not the same in build quality terms, although faster in the right conditions, I suggest you read as many boat reports as you can find then visit the show with an open mind, dont get drawn into anything that is not a common make, there will be some cheap Birchwoods!, if you go to the broom stand as for James.

I wish I had your problem, Martin! I'd be straight down to the nearest Broom dealer to whack a deposit on a Broom 50 but you might find the cockpit to small for mass sunbathing.
How about a Fleming 55? A real little ship with excellent quality but its a semi displacement hull so a constant 20knots will use a lot of fuel

If I were looking in the Med at that kind of spec. I would immediately go for a Baia 48. Amazing boat particularly with Arneson drives. I have no idea what its seakeeping capability is like in the Solent/Channel though but it does have the ubiquitous hardtop.

I'll get one soon.......

Re: Bless my soul

As soon as I leave the country Martin puts a post about what boat, and gets lots of Broom support. Where are all the sarci childish comments from the anti Broom brigade which my posts normally attract ?

By the way Martin agree with the comments on the 450 or 50 try and make the Broom stand at the S'Hampton show and we could meet up.

Re: Bless my soul

They (we) only do it to wind you up...but really considering a Cranch Endurance 39 ...well I never thought...etc.

(P.S. If you are really after a 39 , there's a nice one on Malorca. High spec etc...you probably know about it though). PM if you do nott.

I'll get one soon.......

Hi Martin,

Now dont show off you bugger!!

My opinion is you have a great boat at the moment!, get used to it and use it more, then if you and the lovely Leanne and family still enjoy boating, trade up in a couple of years time. Reasons as follows from personal experience!

1. Kids will start to hate boating soon, its boring!
2. Wife gets fed up with camping type hols, or gets sea sick all the time.
3. You get fed up with boating
4. All the family gets pissed off with British summers
5. A bigger boat just cant be held if wind is blowing by her in doors
6. This means you have to be very good at boat handling!! God help you if you shout at her!
7. Just when you have bought it, your business goes belly up/loses orders etc, interest rates rise and you end up in the sh*t!!!

And last but not least, nice people like me wont talk to you because they think you are filthy rich or a bank robber/drug dealer etc!!

Best Regards

Barry

p.s. Hows the back?

I just want to retire with my boat to the Med!

plus berthing gets a lot more especially out in med which goes from 15m (about 40ft) up to 20m with no in between. However I would still love a Broom 450.
