What would you, do ?

Just how dangerous is anti-foul dust?
Working in a boatyard environment and dealing with 10 or 20 boats a year will have significantly more risk than doing one boat.

Are all the warnings from manufacturers just a load of COSHH?

Are they just covering their backs to avoid litigation should someone try to pin an action on them?

Hmm...

Rather like asking folks to turn off their engine once they've moored up because they're filling your boat with diesel fumes. Some get quite aggressive...

Why!you could say that about allmost every post on here,,if you dont like it f o, its because of dicks like you ,that i dont post much any more,

Hmm, anyway back to the thread, I think Lakesailor makes a good point, just how dangerous is modern antifoul? certainly isn't toxic enough to stop the weeds growing after a year. Is it more dangerous than 20 ciggies a day? or is applying new antifoul paint more dangerous perhaps? with a constant spray of droplets coming off a roller as it's applied.

Pete

Difficult to say how dangerous it is as it will take a while for the medical "proof" to emerge (e.g. tobacco smoke and cancer - it took 40 years to medically prove the link). The problem with alot of pesticides/herbicides is that they are starting to be linked with Parkinsons disease which is not something I would take a chance with

The proof is there already. Solvents (let alone the toxic principles in AF) cause permanent brian damage and inhibit nervous system activity.

AF stops little critters setting up home and reproducing on yoour boat. What is sauce for the barnacle is sauce for the skipper.

My boat is next to him, I will wait for awhile before I go back on board, he has stopped now that I told him off.

So what exactly are you looking for here? Validation?
You appear to have already 'spoken' to him, so I can't see the point of asking the forum their opinions.
If he genuinely was "a newbie", not aware that there was a health risk then the "telling off" was unwarranted. A civil word of advice would have been appropriate.

Your subsequent response to an - admittedly sniping - post also probably says a fair bit about you and fills in the background for the "telling off" scene perfectly.

No validation here!
