What would be in your fantasy fleet?

We're thinking of starting a new column in MBY written by a different person each month about the boats they would choose to have in their fantasy fleet.

The rules are very simple: you have recently entered and won the £5million jackpot in a special BoatMillions Lottery, the only drawback is that you have to spend your winnings on boats. Your berthing and running costs for up to three of them will be covered for 10 years including one permanent crew member.

So what would you buy, where would you keep them, what would you use them for and why? If possible add photos of your choices too.

Keep it short and simple for the forum but if we like the sound of your fantasy fleet we may come back to you for a fuller explanation to be published in the mag.

Looking forward to reading what would be in yours....

Hugo

Scrap the idea of a crew member.
If I was spending £5 million on boats, I wouldn't want someone else enjoying them.

A fleet wouldn't be for me.
When I sailed my dinghies, I had two or three to choose from.
When sailing, I always wished I was on one of the others.
So, it is only one boat for me and concentrate all the activity/money on the one boat.

You don't have to have a crew member and you are at liberty to blow it all on one boat if you'd rather but personally I would definitely be wanting something small, fast and capable for weekend jaunts in the UK and something larger and more comfortable for living on for weeks at a time in the Med.

Toying with an Axopar 37 for the UK and maybe a Lagoon 78 for the Med, although it might be a bit too large for squeezing into tight spots so I might need a Riva Aquarama on a truck for good measure. Decisions, decisions!

Nordhavn 63. & 7m XS Rib on foredeck, dive compressors. sidescan / multibeam echosounders

This would be a dive / fishing platform. would love to explore asia, PNG, East coast of Aus and NZ. 3 years then i might be ready to come back through the pacific islands..........

Firstly, I'd have a Hardy 65 for exploring more Northern waters, something that could trundle across to the Nordics and explore the Fjords as well as the Channel Islands and French coast.

I'd choose a Princess S65 as my Med Boat and this is where I would deploy my crew, to keep things shipshape.
My Med boat would be based at Port Grimaud, assuming I had already purchased a suitable property to moor it outside.
(Might be too big for there? In which case possibly Antibes.)

I'd also have a Windy Zonda 31 for blasting around the Solent. although I think I'd be keeping the hull mostly in the water.

The bloke driving that windy is about to get a massive bollocking from his wife once the boat comes down from orbit.

Or at least thats what happens if I get my windy out of the water like that.

with regard to fantasy boats, I'd have:-

1. Mastercraft x star for wakeboarding
2. Axopar 37 for blasting around
3. Itama 62 for floating aorund the med

WIth the change from the 5 mil, I would retire to enjoy them

You don't get to keep the change I'm afraid, the rules of the BoatMillions lottery state that you have to blow it on boats or lose it!

Am I the only one on here that wouldn’t change their current boat. I could waste the money on a boat I didn’t really want, or I could send mine back to Brooms for an unbelievably expensive refit .

I,ve allready got an Itama , and it’s based in the Med SoF .
I tend to agree with Hurricanes thinking about “ allways wishing to be on the other “ boat .
So for me I would be looking to extend / big up what I have and go further afield ( rules say “ expenses covered -inc Fuel ? If so great :encouragement:)

One of these —- AB 140

View attachment 71841

Reasons —-
Invite more guests to share and basically tour the best places hospitality wise and equally some remote quieter places .

Use my existing Itama as a chase boat to compilment this ..All in the Med btw .

Or flit between the two Itama being the local domestic W/E run about to get a boat fix ,as I live a reasonable drive away the AB being moored where we leave it as we tour .

Porto Cervo , Naples ( Amalfi ) , Palma , St Trop , Portofino - Then Greek islands , Dalmatian islands and even Venice - that kinda thing —— they might wish they hadn’t included fuel or berthing with this monster :)
Hey ho !

I ,d need to take up the 1 crew offer too as I,am only ticketed to 24 M - that’s a good offer .

But I would love to get this off the owner for £5 M I like to deal !

[ rules say you pay running etc inc repairs overs 10 y - eek ! ]

Interesting choice and fair play to you for exploiting the rules to the max! We wouldn't want anything as inconvenient as the cost of fuel from holding you back.

Simples: two identical Riva Aquaramas plus the crafts-personnel and equipment to keep them both in concours condition. Two, so that one would be on the water at all times, whilst the other was being maintained. And, believe me, I would be driving them like a hooligan so there'd be plenty of need for maintenance. :encouragement:

PS. I might need three just to be on the safe side...

For me it would be an Azimut 72 in Alicante (with the crew member to keep it clean and keep the fridge full of beer).
I would have enough left for a poker-run-type boat, probably based ashore in Mallorca. "Drop my boat in please, I fancy a blast around the islands"
Something like this https://www.yachtworld.co.uk/boats/...Spain?refSource=enhanced listing#.WzY0SkHTWEc
The UK...mmm... Chris Craft Corsair 27 on the dry stack near where I live for the occasional lunch up the Tamar river... yeh, why not?:)

I hear where you're coming from but wouldn't you ever want to head a little further afield and stay on board, perhaps with a friend or six?

Nice grouping and always good to get a couple of big V8 petrols in there, in fact the C-C probably has a V8 in too, so make that three V8s. I'd better up the fuel budget!

When does the winner actually get the £5m?
The publishers are being exceedingly generous this time around ;)

Based on £5m plus running expenses, I think I could stretch to the following

Ferretti 780 for the Med, with the crew member

afMsLaE.jpg

Used Fleming 55 for UK exploring

LCACfmk.jpg

Slipper launch kept on the Thames for summer evening jaunts on the river

Oh yes, that trio works well too – provided the Ferretti comes with a Williams in the garage for high speed thrills.
