I am hoping that someone may be able to identify who made the gooseneck and or my boom on my new to me boat and where I might get a replacement.

We noticed that the boom can be pulled out of the fixing when we were putting a reef in last weekend. As the reefing line comes out of the boom at the gooseneck end, we were pulling it after to tension the foot and oops, the boom swing free.

I think I would like to change it to a more traditional fitting using a pin if I can find out who made it, as the boom profile is also unusual.

Thanks for any help

Steve

This looks like the one on my Mirage 28. I think it had a through bolt which held the gooseneck incorporating the reefing horns.
I think the spar supplier has gone out of business now and you'll be very lucky to get a replacement. Z spars may be able to supply something that will fit the boom section or a rigging outfit.
Good luck.

Looks like an Isomat type fitting. Parts are available in the USA although originally French made I believe.

Try Rig-rite, inc. is it rig-rite.com? A Google search will enlighten no doubt.

There should be a wire C clip holding it together. Your plan to replace with a bolted fitting is, in my opinion, a good plan.

I found this thread. We had the same problem some years ago when we had a Mirage 28 and got replacements sent from Plymouth. I seem to recall paying about £25 for the 2 halves of the ball fitting and metal spring clip that held them together and wondering how a couple of bits of plastic and a metal ring could cost so much.

Hi. I have the exact same gooseneck fitting on my mirage 27. I have the details at home if you'd like me to root them out of my folder and let you know?
Regards,
Pedro.
