What trousers do you wear sailing?

Normal days, Musto Evolution - sounds a bit up itself. They are actually very good.
Oh and we have an outlet store near us which makes the price almost reasonable. Much more robust than Craghoppers and cheaper and harder wearing than Rohans.

And they do not iron - I have the scars to prove it.

Cold days, Lidl thermal lined walking trousers

Wet days - any or all of the above plus salopettes

Cold nights - thermal trousers, thermal long johns and salopettes.

The one irreplaceable item in my sailing wardrobe is a truely awesome pair of pants made by Montane specifically for wearing under yer oilies. They are similar to Buffalo, fibrepile with a pertex outer shell, but well adapted for sailing with a drop seat and various other features. Bought about 10-12 years ago, no longer made nor anything like them.

I can't be bothered to read the thread(s?) but has anyone else said "I wear my BROWN trousers when sailing?" :D

Jeans are useless for sailing - they just never dry out. Lightweight walking ones with zip-off legs are my fave in the summer, then I can paddle ashore with the legs in my pocket. I winter I wear cheap padded thermal ski-trousers. But NEVER jeans.

The Humble Jeans - Great For Sailing In

Most of the time I wear my jeans. I drive to the boat in my jeans, step onto the boat in my jeans and go sailing in my jeans. If they get wet they dry in the wind like any other garment. If they get soaked through I change them for another set of trousers, which may be another pair of jeans (unless its very windy, when they too dry like other garments). I also contort my lower body and legs into a cockpit locker, engine space and under the boom wearing jeans. When I reach a port I usually wear my jeans for a shore visit. I have been known to sail for weeks wearing jeans.

Many a cold watch has been relieved by wearing jeans. The thick denim provides a heat retaining barrier against ones knees from turning purple while my fellow watch keepers clad in Rohan and Crag Hopper micro light quick dry heat dissipating trousers shiver in abject misery.

I remember in 1970 reading in a start sailing book that jeans should never be worn when sailing; they favoured corduroy and after a humiliating experience at school with purple elephant corduroy trousers, I vowed never to wear them again, not even when sailing my mirror dinghy. So my love affair with wearing jeans began.

I tried stay pressed royal blue crimplene trousers - they melt and stick to your legs although they do dry very fast in the wind. However, they contribute nothing to warmth and negatively affect a young lads ability to impress girls, they too have been rejected for the humble jean.

Ah, yes, Jeans, the shipyard overalls. :D

I have a pair of Yellow Canterburys (sadly missed)
A pair of Asterix the Gaul Blue and White striped pantaloons
A pair of blue Regatta trousers with loads of pockets.
Straight leg Levis, getting holey and tatty now.

Sadly, my Blue Canterburys died a death, and I never got my hands on the Red-Faded-To-Pink Canterburys.

So, as it seems to the subject of infra snobbery round these parts, what do you wear?

Suit or combats,,,,why.
