Whilst the interweb is full of workshop manuals for the above, I can't find anything about routine maintenance.
Whilst the boat is out of the water, is there anything else I can check?
It was apparently serviced in May, and had the bellows and seals replaced.
The bellows are obviously very new so I'm happy with that, is it just a matter of checking that the oil is clean and that the reverse pawl is locking correctly?
Anything else I can/should check?

If you have a grease nipple or sprung pot on the flywheel bellhousing make sure the pot is full or if its got a nipple a pump or 2 of grease every 10 hours running it lubes the UJ at the top of the leg.

You will find the routine servicing of the drive is covered by the engine operator's manual which you can download from VP's website.

Thanks both, and I know I'm being stupid here, but I still an't find anything else from Volvo.
The link lets you search on any amount of engine maintenance but I can't seem to find anything relating to outdrives?

In my link
Enter the engine type eg AQ115 in the engine type box and hit search

Pick one of the the exact engine types from the list that opens , eg AQ115A. then pick "operators manual"

Accept the T&Cs

The above example will lead to the operators manual in pdf for the AQ115, 130 and 170 engines fitted with the 270 drive leg.

Scroll through the manual until you came to the section on the drive leg.

Thanks very much, it's greatly appreciated.
I thought I was going to have to give up after coming up with a blank page on the AQ115C page, but the "B" one works and it's downloading now :)

Thanks again,

Chris

Do not be bewildered if there is no grease nipple on top of the transom to grease up the internal jackshaft bearings.Mine was not tapped or drilled to take one.
Most vital check is to undo oil drain plug on bottom of leg and check oil condition .
Undo very very slowly and you shove your finger over hole to prevent all oil whooshing out.
You will probably lose enough to see if oil is clear (good) or bit milky (h,mm) or pure creamy foam (B_A_D).
Is your leg lift electric or hydraulic ?

Thanks Fred, I was just going to check the oil on the dipstick, better to actually drain a small amount off then?
Lift is electric.

Actually, scrub that, I may as well change the oil, I think it's due to be done in May anyway.

H,mm ....leg oil.... mine used perfectly ordinary multigrade oil such as you use in the engine.
Worth buying from a motor factors such as Agabridge where if you buy a 25L drum it costs much less than buying from Halfrauds.

Yes the AQ270 drives use the same oil as the engine.

Even better, thanks!
I hadn't checked the grade of oil required, I won't be able to get back to the boat until after Christmas but I have plenty of engine oil spare.

Thanks both, I would've checked before doing anything, now I have the owners manual and workshop manual I should be good to just get on with it and get things sorted out :)
