Hi
Know doubt that this has been explained before, but as visiting boat thought I would just ask.
So what time do I need to leave Teddington lock to make St Katherines lock in time. The boat had draft of 4Ft 3"

Thanks

Haven,t actually got a lock time, I assumed it would so many hours either side of high water.
Do I actually need to book a lock time with St Kats?

We draw 4ft and can only nudge 10 knots. We cleared Richmond as the tide was rising and followed a trip boat to get the channel. We got to St Kats with an hour to spare for locking. Talking with Richmond and St Kats about locking times ahead of the trip was a good move.

Richmond to St Kats

Best to leave Richmond as soon as there is enough water down stream of the lock - this gives you the max time to allow for having to slow for rowers etc.
I have often locked in and then waited for 30 mins or so to allow the flood to make to sufficient depth (I like a metre), then slowly take the first reach keeping more or less to the middle.

Normally they like to know roughtly what your time of arrival is when you book your berth !
