It's moored less than a 1/2 mile from me at the Viaduct in Auckland.
think they have plumbing problems as the toilet is on the pontoon and there are loads of mastic guns lying around... also loads of speakers on the back ... not sure if that is for music or whale boat scaring....
looks great in black.

She does and even more so in black!
There is a neat place to keep the tender on the back as well although putting the fenders out is interesting.... it involves a scaffold plank placed between the aft section of the main hull and the aft of the smaller outrigger hull.... you can then walk over and pop some fenders out...

She's gone to make TV with an incompetant bunch of mariners in the southern ocean - "Whale Wars". The lack of seamanship demonstrated on board the "Steve Irwin" has nearly cost the lives of some of their young crew on multiple occaisions. The "cause" may be a good one, but their methods are daft and not winning them friends, even from sympathetic corners - nuts!
The arrogance of the ships officers towards the disillusioned young crew is a strange attitude. Many of the youngsters seem to leave at the end of each leg never to return. Direct action or loonacy by incompetants? Don't know if the TV coverage will help their cause much, might be more of an exposure.
