First of all apologies for asking a question that has been asked several times before but things change so quickly.
As some of you may know, my Hudl refused to charge up and I asked about solutions recently.
I thought it would be as well to see what the supplier had to suggest so I took my Hudl back to Tescos. The very helpful staff at the help desk told me that they were no longer selling or repairing them and offered me a refund.
The reason was that they have had numerous returns due to the poor build quality.
This leaves me the problem of what to replace it with. Must be able to run my apps from Google store including Navionics on the boat and available from Tesco so I can use my refund credit. Nexus and Lenovo are names I have heard suggested but what of a windows tablet - will they run apps?
Help please.

Checked with the Tesco stores in my area & no reports of "numerous returns due to poor build quality".
Still writing this on my hudl2, with hudl1 as back up (good for iplayer whilst in kitchen), so perfectly happy & impressed.

I'm only reporting what I was told. It's a fact that Tesco aren't selling them anymore. I'm disappointed because my Hudl 2 when it was working was very good although the power connection never seemed particularly secure.
Anyway, my Hudl is history and I'm looking ahead.

Even if they had been inundated with returns for whatever reason, it's hardly likely that they would admit it at a local store level.

Having said that, my Hudl2 hasnt missed a beat and, whilst I keep looking at the beautiful screens of the latest Samsungs, and the screen and better functionality of the ipad, I cant justify the expenditure as the Hudl2 does everything I have wanted it to do.

I had a Google Nexus 7" which was brilliant from the word go.I donated it to a daughter when I got an iPad.I miss the flexibility of the Android system, and there were good Wi-Fi sniffer programs available for Android, as well as JeppersonPlan to Nav nav programs.A caveat here, the money you hand over for Jepperson charts is no good if you change to Apple, tough, you have to buy again!

I've been advocating the Lenovo TAB 2 A10 for a while. The price has recently fallen to £120.

This is a 10" device, so substantially larger than the Hudl. I see this as a positive. It has a high resolution 1920x1200 pixel display.

Make sure you don't buy the previous model by mistake - it is similarly named and has been on sale as old stock as recently as a few weeks ago. Check the resolution to be sure. There are also 7" and 8" models in the Lenovo Tab range.

I hardly think the Tesco bods I talk to, would lie.

very happy with my Samsung tab3 8 inch, not sure if they are still available but you can get a tab4 7 inch for £109 at Tesco.com.

Making a separate reply about your apps question.

When you log on to a new Android tablet with your Gmail username and password, you'll be able to download any apps you've already bought, as long as they're compatible with the device.

If you're on a laptop now, you can go to "My Apps" on the left hand side in the Play Store and tell it to install them on any Android devices registered to you.

It's rare for apps to be incompatible between Android tablets.

A Windows laptop or tablet will not run your Android apps.

Thanks for that info and also the person who confirmed the Samsung has GPS.

Try Argos - my Hudl dies last weekend and I got a Lenovo 7" tablet with GPS for £59.95 - delivered same day for free ...:-) Works great.

I'm only repeating what I was told at Tesco in Shrewsbury.

Sorry.. I was responding to alant. I would be more inclined to believe the bods who said there was a repeated fault, (those that you spoke with), than those who said there wasn't. Although I am surprised that they declared such a situation.
