Having not sailed at all this year and only the prospect of a possible week in September I am wondering what sort of weather we have had for sailing in the UK i.e. have I missed a good or poor season? How was it for you!

I hope your fingers were firmly crossed.

We've not sailed for well over two years now: firstly, a serious head injury, then lockdowns.

Ah well, I'd say summer isn't over yet

I fully empathise, we were in a similar situation up to last year.

September was cracking though in 2020, we had the boat out for new bottom paint just prior to restrictions coming in and had a glorious week, i'm keeping everything crossed for an Indian summer to extend the season this year.

If not - what's that saying about weather & clothing... ;-) We'll be out as often as possible - that's the one thing the last few years has brought home to us - don't waste any time wondering what-if.

Pretty normal season but no racing this year, either because of Covid or the one race we were going to enter got cancelled due to weather.

About 7 weeks until crane out, so the season is not over.

Definitely fewer boats about, at least one club here had no crane in for the second year running and have just one lone cruiser (slipway launched) on their moorings. Not all boats at our harbour craned in this year, a few chose to stay out again.

We've had a good season so far, and as others have mentioned, it isn't over yet! Lift out scheduled for the end of October, so no winter sailing possible this year.

You mean to tell me that people put boats IN the water? Well I never! And there was me thinking they belonged on dry land in the boatyard ...

We had a lovely sail to Brixham (or should I say motor) /Dartmouth with great weather for one week towards end of July but perhaps not the delights found in Brittany but not bad .Hopefully this bank holiday week will see an improvement -it did seem rather quiet in the Solent on Sunday evening as we crossed to the island though.

Weather has not been the problem. Not particularly hot or cold. Does not bother me I take it as it comes. I like the UK weather
Current problem is nowhere to go. Talk of south coast being to busy to be sure of a berth. East coast has limited places between Lowestoft & Dover & having been there, done it & had the "T" shirt it gets a bit boring.
This year I have logged about 120 miles instead of the usual 1500 so far. Boat is weeded up( coppercoat) & has not had the usual mid season jet wash& was not launched until late May. Seems pointless paying for a wash if not being used. Hope to do a 2 week cruise starting 28 August with 3-4 other boats from sailing club doing Ramsgate, Dover, & the Orwell but cannot really get excited about that.
If things do not improve, I intend to launch earlier next year & head along south coast before it gets too busy then round Uk. That assumes Wee Krankie up north & Boris allows us to circulate. However, I do not intend to deliberately put myself at risk , regardles of having had the jab
If foreign travel opens up then it is back to the usual Dieppe, Channel islands, Camaret - Back home for mid season scrub then Ostend & the Dutch canals. Just gotta keep inside the 90 days
