The one you have pictured is like mine. I seem to remember that the tab under the fuse is something to do with the load it can give without going via the battery. The wires from the solar panel and to the battery are just in screwed down clamps in the green bar. The temperature compensator is build in to the unit so ideally the unit needs to be near the batterys.

I use a smart sense monitor and network via Bluetooth. Depends if you have the smart (Bluetooth) regulator or not.

it looks like you do have a Smart MPPT in which case this is the super easy way to fit temperature monitoring:

ah thx all, don’t need a temp sensor at all as the unit will be fixed in the same compartment as the batteries
tnx for the connector link, I don’t want to interfac with it further so will give that a miss !

Technically you do, since it is the temperature of the batteries, which warm up during rapid charging.

Yeh fair point, with an 80W solar on 220Ah I am not going to be rapid charging
