for some time now I been battling to find the cause of my over heat alarms going off.

temp gauges all seam fine but alarms keep going off. it started at 3000rpm + but now is going off at 2000rpm so getting worse... I took a look at where it gets its tempter feed from and it appears that the temp sender coming from the water temperature on the top of the engine only feeds the gauge. Is there a second temp sender is so where and what's it measuring oil or water?

Need to get to the bottom of this as now defiantly thinking I may really have a overheat issue. They are twin ad41 lumps

thanks

Ian

Thanks Paul.

I only have one sensor on the thermostat housing and that has a single brown wire that goes direct in to the loom and on the other end goes straight to the gauge. also both engines are doing it but starboard one not quite as quickly.

thanks

Ian

I seam to have just a blank plug.. reading up I understand it's the brown and white wire but that seams to dive low and go somewhere else.

Thanks Paul

Is it common for these to go then as both engines are doing it of some degree? You happen to know the part no. Or where I can find it as volspec site I can only see the two oil ones and one water one

All the best

Ian

We have TAMD41B engines with two senders in the header tank.
The first sender went shortly after we bought the boat which caused great upset despite the temp gauges looking OK.
Shortly after the other engine did the same. Now have new senders and no further problems.
