I am restoring my 20 Yr old maxum bow rider and have decided to repaint above and below the waterline. I'm a competent car restorer, but less confident with grp. I have flatted the Hull with 220 grit and a da sander and filled a few very minor dings with epoxy filler, all now sanded smooth and flush. So whats the next step before topcoat? Primer... Undercoat... Both?? And any recommendations. I'm wanting to roll it on due to the fact I'm working outdoors and want to avoid clouds of drifting over spray.

Pros and cons of single and 2 pack. Suggest you read the manufacturer's literature before deciding.

Personally I have had good results with single pack international Toplac. Two coats of Pre Kote on well prepared GRP, flatted down and 2 coats of Toplac. You can use either roller or brush - personally I am more comfortable with brush.

While I am reluctant to question any of the advice Tranona gives so generously, I am with his reverence here.
The painted red boot top stripes on our Sigma 38 were two pack and despite the colour and location just above the waterline, subject to frequent scrubbing, were still good after 18 years. In a similar location Toplac managed about 4; so if durability and abrasion resistance is more of an issue than ease of application go for two pack, do not skimp on preparation with either.

If you have taken the old antifoul back to the original gel coat then do not apply antifoul,

You need to put a primer on first suggest Jotun Vinyguard 88 silver as much cheaper then International primacon and just the same results and rollers on no problem

However if you are really back to the gel coat and want to protect your nice clean hull from future osmosis consider coating with 4 x International Gelshield 200 then primer then antifoul as above.

As for the boot topping 1 x Vinyguard 88 primer and 2 x coats of Toplac lasts me 2 year min even having to scrub once a month.

Agree 2 pack is more durable and resistant to abrasion, but for topsides on a bow rider that the OP has that will not be an issue, and any scuffs can be made good without much effort and as the colour is very resistant to fade usually invisible. My first repaint with Toplac (dark blue) lasted about 15 years with just one recoat. Was still sound when I had it all removed by blasting as part of a major refit. Turned out a mistake but that is another story!

Noticed the OP wants to do the below waterline as well which needs a different approach. Vyniguard is good but AFAIK only comes in 5l which is far more than he will need so Primocon make be cheaper for his job. Then AF of choice. However if it is not left in the water the same finish as the topsides will be OK.
