Had a spin out with the new engine (Honda 2.3). It drives the boat at least as well as the Tohatsu 3.5 and is a bit easier to use. Whilst it's not quiet, it's no noisier than the 2 stroke. Overall it is very suitable for our purposes.
Interesting to read about @geem nested tender planing. I don't get the impression that our dingy would do this easily or comfortably, If I decide that a planing tender is a requirement, I think I'd be looking for a RIB.
