Oh, for some reason my posts are being moderated by matron again, and I can't correct the typos. My apologies.

Toughened laminated glass also has some insulation benefits and can be done in colours etc.

I fitted toughened laminated glass to the wheelhouse of my boat. Thickness 13 mm total This gives better view and being harder will not get scratched and allows for windscreen wipers to ge used.

Think the toughened/laminated combo is for doors. Less nasty if you walk into it.
Car windows is another typical use. Laminated will do the job for the safety element, eg sledgehammer attack, bullets, (say, loose booms, whipping shackles?). Toughened/laminated will stop the shards. Laminated can be cut 'off the shelf'. But toughened/laminated has to be cut to size, sent off for toughening, then laminated together, and hence costs more and takes longer. It also reduces noise by comparison.

I wouldn't use toughened on its own.
