At about noon there was a wild flurry of activity and half a dozen yachts all left at once; one old timer went so far as to leave his dinghy tied up behind - the universal signal that he intends to go fast.

So what was the fuss all about?
 
Who complains about clinking halyards in a marina? Like camping in a forest and complaining about the leaves rustling.

There's a difference between a gentle light clanking in strong breeze and a 12mm halyard with 2ft of slack in it twanging against a mast like it's being hit with a hammer!

But yes you're right, frightful places marinas.
