What nonsense....

What an utter Tw4t lol

It astonishes me too, that people 'clever' enough to afford these gin palaces (By my humble standards) are so utterly devoid of any grey matter.

Incredible, I know that area as I have done safety boat duty at the end of his garden. :)

The Thames floods, it is a house that backs onto the river at just above water level and has no flood protection (lots do).

I think he failed in the due diligence part of the process, if it was "terrible" and "life ruining" then I should think the previous owners would not have stayed there for so many years.

Unless perhaps microbiologist/bankers do not come along all that often. A rare breed.

They are nice houses, if you like that sort of thing. They can fit a flood wall if they want, not too much money. Crazy.

Up in Tedd and lived a few doors down from this house until last Aug, in fact myself and Ted lock used to know the former owner (slippery Cyril). It is a beautiful house and its only the garden that floods the house to my knowledge nor the very substantial lower ground floor has ever flooded, in fact if it did London would be in a whole host of trouble!

What he also fails to mention which would worry me more is its on a very, very busy road (Twickenham Rd) and is directly under the flight path, ok when they are landing the right way but boy when they take off you get it LOUD there!

I guess the flip side is he thinks its worth far less than he paid for it so I may go round and bung him an offer.......

I have registered my disgust on the comments section although unlike this forum its moderated so I feel it may never see the light of day...

I have about £100.00 to spend on a London pad in a fairly central position.Any suggestions ?
Ps. Must have mooring for old rather tatty boatFFS.:)

I think If i were the judge I'd agree with him, and make the Console-Verma's pay back the 1.9 million, and take the house back.

AFTER i'd deducted say ohhh 1.9 Million in rent for the 3 odd years the guy lived there. and denied costs.

What a spanner.

It has plenty of 'flood protection' - They have part of londons tidal defence , which runs all the way from Teddington Weir to the barrier. IIRC it's at the top end of the garden near the house . Meaning that the garden is undefended , but the house is.

The garden floods on big spring tides , as does everyone elses garden on Twickenham Road.

Yes, I chuckled on this one whilst reading the newspaper of the person sitting next to me on the train! (Dont you hate peeps that do that!)

It all boils down to the searches and enquiries that should have been made by the solicitor before exchange. That is after all what you pay them for?

Now if the landing stage had fenders drooping down all the time, that would be grounds...

Thats also a crime

That there has not been a boat moored along side there for years, why live on the river if you are not going to use it in someway.

There is an huge divide 'twixt them 'as does and them 'as doesn't.

I am constantly amazed by folks moving out of the city into the country and then complaining about the mud and tractors.

I suspect for this chap he bought the place - Location, thrice and saw the river at the bottom of his garden as no more than a view and knowing that nothing could obstruct it in the future. The fact that the river is wet, contains water which can go up or down probably escaped him.

There's a distinct lack of Common in all manner of folks nowadays.

I was watching M.Portillo's perambulations by train around the country last evening, and I was surprised when, being a city dweller, he wasn't comfortable in the countryside. Perhaps the same applies to the gentleman in question.

We have our fair share in the village. Moans about the Church Bells, moans about the lack of street lamps, complaints about Cockerels, moans about farm smells.
I can't understand it. I moved out here embraced the countryside and all that came with it. Indeed that was the very reason I came out of that wilderness called London. As regards the beautiful unspoiled village of South Stoke I wouldn't alter a thing.
