what makes a good sailing sock?

okay I confess

I normally sail a twin wheel cheese wedge with two bogs. Never wear anything but Dubs. The rib has a 30 hp engine. Musto gear from top to toe.

Me too, well except I am short a wheel and a bog and the rib is Redcrest but it has proper oars and Musto made my beanie.

Musto!

You are so 20th century Dylan. For 2016 it has to be a white quilted loft jacket with meaningless designer large numbers across the back.

No, more of a skinflint type I'd say.

the less I spend on frippery the more sailing I can do. I reckon the variable cost of my sailing is around £100 for three days. So if I buy five pairs of thinsulates for £7 as opposed to five pairs of sealskinz for £100 then I get almost three days more sailing

Pricey but you can wear one pair for a week!
'Alpaca naturally repels bacteria so you can wear these socks without ever needing to wash them - perfect for a week away in the boat where space is short - you will only need to take one pair and you can even sleep in them'

Daughter took them down to the Southern Ocean and has raved about them ever since!

Well I just bought a pair on the strength of the recommendation, delivered today and all I can say is cozy!

you beat me

just low thirties in Cornwall

but I never let a bit of cold prevent me from sailing in my chosen garb of Crocs and Kilt

No self respecting Croc owner would dream of wearing socks inside their Crocs.
So do you want the socks for under the Kilt, to keep the dangly bits warm?
If so how do you attach the sock?
Do you use 2 socks for extra warmth?
