So this little gadget is in the cockpit.

I clicker, counter of some kind, but what for ?

It's on the starboard side of the cockpit directly below the compass. with no other instruments.

The bracket below it looks like it may have been for a GPS, but there is nothing that would fit on the bracket at the moment.

The more old toot I can remove from the boat, the less I have to worry about, but I can see the clicker being semi useful for noting the direction to be steered , I guess these were installed in the days before GPS/Autopilot, seeing as the boat is 1980 vintage.

I'd agree with that, from what I can make out the boat has had 4 previous owners.

I've spent a bit of time yesterday looking at the cabling in the boat, and pulled out 4 cables that ran to nowhere.

Found a box of spares, one very strange knife type thing with a load of holes in it and a rounded end. I get the feeling the original owner was a sailor that did a lot of distance with the boat. but at some point she turned into a floating caravan, there are at least 5 double 240v sockets that I have found so far, and this is on a 26ft Westerly Griffon.
