I recon I just spotted it. Last years almanac for £6. I have hidden fortune in the loft (if the wife hasn't thrown them away)

I demonstrated to Neville Featherstone himself (editor of Reeds) in Nieupoort harbour how popular last years almanac could be.
I put out a VHF on the marina channel for last years almanac, and had 3 respondents from within the marina in 5 minutes.
Money went to the charity box.

Dont you go to boat jumbles? They usually go for about 4 quid.

In fact, I have just taken delivery of Reeds Almanac, 1949. Precious.

I generally buy an almanac every other year and get tides from elsewhere in the odd years. I also keep an old one at home for planning purposes. I never need to buy an out-of date one but they are very useful.

Remind me to bring a Dutch Almanac from 2008 to the Fitted up supper, to add to your collection.

- Your barbeque won't stand level with just your 2009 and 2010 Almanacs under two of the three legs ;-)
 
It's strange... When you live on land.. you always keep last years at home for reference..

... when you live on board... you'd have no reason (or the whereabouts) to keep one on land.

IoW to Aldeburgh with 2006 Almanac

In my desire to avoid spending money I have been using a 2006 Almanac for my journey around our lovely 20,000 mile long coast line.

So far so good.

Every bouy has been right where I expected. The phone numbers have been correct. The harbours have not changed a bit.

So that is the price of two almanacs saved already - although the old 2006 is getting a bit tatty - so if anyone has a more recent one and they live near aldeburgh. The boat is on Slaughden Quay - right on the end on blocks. Wrap the old almanac up in a plastic bag and stick it in the cockpit of the ugliest boat in the yard.

just lit the log burner tonight with the last remaining pages of last years almanac
does that count as re-using or re-cycling?
it's cheaper and more chemically friendly than the fire lighters!!
