Re: What is the stuff you put under a mattress on aboat called?

Agreed - I never leave any electrical stuff on at night ,cept the fridge. Course, he could run the dehumidifier during the evening/morning.

Re: What is the stuff you put under a mattress on aboat called?

It's a small unit and a big boat with all cabins left open, so I doubt I would die, but will bear that in mind if really pissed and dehydrated when I go to bed, a useful thought though /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

no glue yet

no need to glue - the non-slip blue matting (you can get it cheap from caravan shops) will hold ventair, matress, or bits of carpet (or slippy cockpit cushions another god aplication). Whatever you use I wdn't glue it immediately in case it doesn't work as well you wanted.

Re: no glue yet

True tcm - he should try it "loose-laid" first, but the "monkey-fur" on my Binliner is glued down (- probably cheapest way of doing it, knowing Brunswick!).

Re: no glue yet

Well, as it's cream-coloured it's a bleedin nightmare. Be much better were it dark grey/brown type shade.

Disinfect ????? Wtf do you get up to in yon bed ? Watersports, is it ? (Nudge, nudge, wink, wink, he answered knowingly, etc.)

oh and

another option (not quite as good really, but not the expense of the blue matting stuff) is spray glue - the stuff you get from an upholstery shop. SDpray tack i think they call it - it's glue but sort of rip apartable - ok for horizontal surface tho useles to truly glue stuff.

I wd get the blue stuff, just needs a few bits not a bed-area worth.

also - try running the dehum during the day if lecky supply allows- gets all the sheets luverly and dry, much nicer.

Re: no glue yet

um, that's getting a bit ott innit? You just need a condensation barrier. in fact, if the matress has a (wooden?) lip around it, just plonk the ventair/horsehair wotsit down. Any ole lagging tho wil stop the condesation at the warm matress/cold grp interface, another bloke on pbo used soem of the blue wall lagging (builders board) 1inch thick under the mattress.

Re: What is the stuff you put under a mattress on aboat called?

no no, I left the dehumidifer on one night and I lost a stone in weight! Yes, you'll definitely drop dead with the dehum on after a week or so overight, well-known fact....

Re: no glue yet

I do have a nice wooden lip all around so room for a thick pad, I will try the horse stuff on it's own cutting the shape of the hatch out and I think the lip will keep it in place, if not I can get some rolls of the blue stuff later. Thanks for the advice.

I'm sure swmbo's breasts were shrinking, it could have been that /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif (didn't see any milk in the container though /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif), is there a moisture adding machine available? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Re: What is the stuff you put under a mattress on aboat called?

Boil a kettle at one end of the boat and run the dehum at the other, and then stand her in between facing one way or the other depending on which parts need expansion or reduction.

Re: What is the stuff you put under a mattress on aboat called?

Part Ex SWMBO for a version with hot air coming out of both ends! I may be puting one on the market shortly!

Re: What is the stuff you put under a mattress on aboat called?

Does the top end need moisturising, or is it fine? I may need a spare /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif or if swmbo see's this thread a total replacement /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Re: What is the stuff you put under a mattress on aboat called?

Just got accussed of smiling into the laptop trying to keep it away from SWMBO at the moment. See you on the lonely hearts forum!

Re: What is the stuff you put under a mattress on aboat called?

Yeh! Best find a really hairy one next time, stops them sweating and saves you £70 for the horse hair under shield thing /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
