What is the best sailing-related gift you've ever received (or wish you had)?

A friend of mine whose greatest passion is sailing (he has a small yacht, about 30ft I think) is turning 40 in a few weeks and I'd like to get him a present related to sailing and yachting..but I could do with some help with ideas!

Please let me know what the best sailing-related present is that you've ever received, or what you would ideally like to get as present, related to sailing. Obviously it has to be something that all keen sailing would love to get (not just you)! Please be a specific as possible (i.e. make/model, if relevant)

Many thanks
A

I received a 9mm thick birch piece of plywood with the outline of my boat engraved and cut into it.
I since invested in the company (stating my interest honestly) and we commission artwork and boat names etc (anything up to 8 foot by 4 foot).

I am not at home or would post the picture, but here are examples, straight off machine, not sanded to remove scorch marks yet.

Prices vary owing to size, amount of artwork via computer required etc and the lead time varies too.
But it makes an everlasting impression on one's wall.

I was given a stainless steel adjustable spanner as a business "thank you" gift a few years ago. It was totally unexpected and therefore appreciated all the more. It should last a lifetime.

I am still applying oil to my adjustable (non-stainless) in an effort to negate the effects of a recent dunking.
