What is the best boat to buy for the Thames?

I am looking to buy a boat for use over the summer. It would have to be able to fit around 8 people for cruising up and down the thames enjoying a drink or two in the sun. What kind of boat would be the best for this kind of use? I am not looking to spend too much. I am willing to buy a run down boat and do it up. Any advice would be great. Thanks.

Not really suitable for 8 people, 4 would be crowded. I do know of a stinking cheap Freeman 20 that only needs a minimum of T.L.C. to make it a nice boat.

Feeling decidedly uncharitable (this evening), I feel it's either a Troll, or someone expecting to be spoon fed, and not getting chapter and verse in the first post has decided to have another go...

All these fora are full of open ended questions, and folks take time and effort to try to help; either getting flamed for drifting sideways, or the OP saying he'd bought a plastic kayak instead (or some such)...
