I have been trying to find some details about the Volvo MD32A. From what i can see it looks like a 6 pot version of the Peugeot Indenor XDP 4.90 from the rocker box cover.

Reason is that a friend is looking at a boat which has a siezed MD32A nad it would be nice to be able to source Peugeot parts as opposed to Volvo prices.

Many thanks

Time to walk away Rene as the song says

I doubt you will have much luck getting parts. Unless the cost of the boat allows a replacement engine .

I've had MD29 Volvo engines (the precursor to the MD32s I think) and I'm sure the other comments about the Indenor / Peugeot base are correct. I have the manual in PDF form still for the MD29s if that would be of any use? It looks fairly technical at 79 pages and would be happy to email it to you.... If at 15.9MB it's too large for your email I can stick it on CD

Suspect you will struggle to find parts for fixing the seized engine ...

The Volvo MD32's (Idenor)were known for troubles with the top et., and was basically not an ideal engine ... but was one of the first high reving diesels (as was the 4 cylinder version MD21)... both had their issues, and both have part availability as a major issue for current owners.

Engine has in principle no value, and can possibly be sold for parts to others who have running engines, so if boat is othewise OK, count in cost new (or re-furbished) engine(s) .... Not MD32's ...

Some of the MD32's are running well still, but these are usually installed in slower boats, that have been used at lower rev's and used at least 1000 RPM below WOT... Seen too many boating holidays ruined by MD32 reliability issues in the 80's and would personally generally advise against purchasing a boat with MD32's onboard... particularly when installed in what was designed as planning or semi-planning hulls...

I have two of these in my steel motor cruiser. I think I have now managed to source just about every spare part that one might need in normal circumstances. These indestructible engines are still in use all over the world. Dead easy to fix. I have the manuals in English and French if anyone is stuck.

Hi, could you help finding a water pump for the md32a. I agree it's a very strong engine and managed to find most parts but not a water pump, thanks
