What is it like sailing from Langstone Harbour?

Places change and comments of how things were many years ago are not that helpful.
I certainly have never been "swamped" as one contributor puts it. The entrance always seems well patrolled by the harbour master.

Hope this more useful than 10 year old comments and comments from those that are obviously prejudiced in favour of Chichester.
I was happy in Langstone.

I am glad you were happy there. I visited a couple of times a year until the last swamping incident 18months ago, and it was the last straw. I just havent bothered since, it is not sufficiently 'special' to run the risk. In fact I never found it 'special', somehow.

And I had never seen any sign of the HM, let alone a patrol boat. Perhaps they now take the jetski menace seriously and have done something about it - if so thats all to the good. I never had any issue with waterskiers - they have an allocated area, and seem to stick to it. If you dont like it, stay away - theres lots of room elsewhere in the harbour.

I know too of others who moved away from Langstone because of the entrance and jetskis.

But my views are based on experience up to early last season - not 10 years back!

Old information warning - I think the water is tertiary treated - ultraviolet I think - and comes out clear, I should know, I windsurfed from the bottom of Southmoor Lane, adjacent to the outlet pipe, for years (just under the sign saying "Water not suitable for activities involving immersion" :D) - it didn't smell bad, but there was a slight whiff, not been there recently (at least 5 years) no idea if they've diverted it - even if they haven't, it's not an issue....

New information - I moved my boat round to Langstone Sailing Club just last week - first time sailing my boat in the harbour and I saw the HM twice... :p
