Have to put some battens onto the inside of the hull. It's a Westerly and the headlining has got the 'dowager's droop'

So, some timber battens on the cleaned hull, fresh insulation and then line out with T&G. Not a huge weight to support when spread across all the battens.

What is the best, long term, grip fix, no nails type product.

Or do I go the whole hog and glass them onto the hull?

You can guess what I will be doing next week...

Gripfix is far better than acrylic crap like no nails, you may well need to use a temp strut to keep the lath bent, i would use say 9mm ply for bonding to the deck hd, it will bend easier

I've used Evo-Stik Sticks like Sh*t for bonding timber to cured grp. It gives a strong bond, you're most likely to split the timber if you try to separate them.

Puraflex 40 (PU40) from Everbuild is a polyurethane adhesive sealant similar to Sikaflex 291 ( Everbuild is a Sika company)

Like Stixall it is available from Toolstation

I used PU40 for this job. I used a big dollop every 10cm or so. The initial grab of the adhesive held it until it cured, without additional support. 3 years later and it is still good.

I used the same method on a bulkhead to hold a plywood panel. I had to remove one batten recently, to drill a hole for something else. I had to use a long knife to cut through the adhesive and scrape the remainder away. It had a good bond, definitely sufficient for the purpose. Using epoxy would be overkill, more work, and would be a real pain to remove later if you needed to.

Thank you all. It's is only coming off at the end of the world!
I do love this site for this sort of genuine experience that people share.

Have manufactured a load of bendy 9mm MDF - an afternoon with the Makita plunge saw. What a beautiful piece of kit.

May even do some photos. I hope the end result will be practical, long lasting and visually acceptable. Really cannot face getting wasted on Evostik fumes replacing the foam and vinyl presently installed.

Watch this space.
