BBC Breakfast weather forecast for sun and hot weather. Got on the boat in the Crouch to spend a tranquil night at Yokesfleet Creek and it was so cold and windy we got back on the mooring and came ashore. I'm used to sailing forecasts being useless and inaccurate but the BBC weather forecast? Michael Fish's influence obviously lives on.

We had a beautiful night in Yokefleet on Monday night, although a bit cold overnight. We did have our heater on in the evening, and were still wearing fleeces to sail in, even at midday. Perhaps you are expecting a bit much for April!

It hit 20 degrees yesterday here in deepest inland Oxfordshire, but with no cloud cover the nights are still pretty parky. You're on the watery East Coast in Spring cyclonic weather so don't expect your barnacles to be sunbathing overnight.

Still, pity my poor kid who is on a four day RYA Optimist course on an inland reservoir, and they've had barely a puff of wind so far!

I'm setting off this afternoon for the Crouch/Blackwater area and the forecast looks very pleasant..... hope I'm not going to be disappointed!
