What hat do you wear for sailing?

I have a selection of beanie hats, graded according to scruffiness. Most are now relegated to wear on board now but I retain one for 'best', worn only for going ashore. They provide enough shade to stop my ears getting toasted and cover the thinning patch on top. I also have a larger brimmed sun hat with a posh badge on it and a string to keep it on my head. No longer used as the brim tends to get blown down into my eyes and SWMBO refuses to be seen out with me if I'm wearing it...

Tilley every time, as recommended by the dermatologist who cut a large part of my nose off a few years ago (BCC). The one I have looks rather rakish (I think) as long as I don't use the chinstrap and when I do I'm on the boat in a blow and I don't care!

Maybe I haven't found the right model or style Tilley hat. I like them and wear one on land but every one I've tried doesn't work on a boat because the brim is too floppy. Look into the wind and the brim either blows up so the sun is in your eyes or it blows down over your eyes and you can't see

+1 ... I also find full brim hats make me hot when wearing them compared with my trusty (Musto) baseball cap... I take the point re. less UV protection with the cap, but I use factor 50 anyway...

Tilleys seem to be ever more popular. I'm struck though by the number of people who don't seem to have read the instructions on how the two straps are designed to work.
