I can't help but notice there seems to be loads for sale and a fair few that have been for sale for a year or two, or longer. I've been half heartedly keeping an eye on a couple of boats, one a 1990 sunseeker camargue with 510 mans in Newark marina, 2 years to my knowledge its been for sale, will it be left to rot? why hasn't anyone bought it and loads similar? What about all the big twin petrols, who would buy one of them 20years old+?
I'm starting to get a bit obsessed with boats (for the last few years now) but daren't buy one, is this normal behaviour or mid life crisis at 42 !!!

Don't worry, 'salright.
Normal behaviour AND mid life crisis.
Did you buy a Porsche yet?

Its like a house. Owners dont stop using their boats just because they put them up for sale. In fact some people put their boats up for sale the minute they buy them. Like houses, boats can take a long time to sell.
I strongly advise you not to buy a boat though because the cost of owning and running one is way more than any other midlife crisis obsession. It would be cheaper to get yourself a bimbette mistress for example (unless SWMBO finds out of course)

Hi I know the sunseeker its near to me, I do work in that marina and work for them too.

The SS used to be purple and came from Germany, it was bought cheap and painted all over, it was a good job but time has taken its toll.

The MANS are huge and for the size of boats there is little in the way of accomodation, the inside needs refreshing as its really dated, if you want to make a bid try through me first, its owned by the marina, bought as a project and its been there nearly 4 years now, they may just unload it at cost dont know for sure, its been surveyed a couple of times and both parties dropped out.

LOL, cheers for that, managed to avoid going down the porsche route for now anyway! I'm with Jeremy Clarkson's theory of the rangerover being the best car in the world, thats about the only box he ticks though despite being from just down the road from me ! been reading your thread 'Current boat buyers behaviour' velly interezting Mr Bond!

Volvopaul cheers for that also pm on way.

As for the bimbette, it's bad enough (and expensive enough) having 1 of SWMBO dishing out orders and chore lists let alone x2! as well as 2 teenage daughters..... would a 40' er be cheaper to moor, fuel and run???

Brilliant, suggest cruiser big enough for them to sunbathe on the front and a galley small enough to ensure the need to moor at the pub. Result all round I'd say. Just don't share the fuel bill with anyone :D
