What happened to John Binder in Poole?

Anyone know the real story about the sudden retirement of John Binder of Poole Quay Marina?

Like other berth holders I received the official email saying that he was reaching retirement age at the end of January but has decided to leave immediately.

It just doesn't sound like John to suddenly leave the scene with no goodbyes.

i am wondering the same, he has always been such a chatty and approachable guy, I received the same email. I spoke to one of the staff on c-mas eve and she said that he'd had a holiday, was a little unwell after, though nothing dreadful or serious, but has now decided that as he's so close to retirement he'll go straight away... I was left believing that at least it isn't due to serious illness, but still the story doesn't seem to quite add up - not that I feel I have any real right to know, but I am intrigued.
