You were talking about the internet, which is very different to using Word and Excel which are office applications (though they do have some limited internet publishing capabilities.

What I meant by dinosaur (and I did say , very nicely meant) is that you don't the PDF reader (acrobat). When I go searching for specific information these days (as opposed to just browsing) 10 to 15% of the information provided is in PDF format.

By not having the PDF reader, you are excluding yourself from a significant proportion of information on the internet. This has got nothing to do with how rich you are, or how you used Office and Excel in the office.

It's like having a computer that only has a floppy drive and no CD-ROM. Just about everything comes on CD-ROM these days. Then saying that you want everything on floppy disk cos that's how things used to be done.

Technology moves on , and PDF is here to stay no matter if peeps dislike it for various reasons.

And can I add that it is most unwise for a business, government department, etc to place MSWord documents on the internet or exchange them in any other way (email, disk) because of the "hidden" information that is readily accessible in them to even the casual investigator, such as previous edits and whom by. Have been many embarrassing moments for some because of that, especially in the political environment.

Important documents that I exchange for business purposes eg electronic versions of invoices (imagine sending an invoice which the debtor can discover information relating to its edit history), critical reports, etc always go as pdf's.

Microsoft have just recently released a plugin (in last couple of weeks) which gives a "Remove Hidden Information..." option on the drop down File menu for Word - how well it works I have not investigated.

About 120 people and about 35 boats. And as pauline was there about 327 pairs of shoes - all pink !!!

And a fantastic array of food - thanks MDL.

So you've got your work cut out to compete with that ..........

You could always post a .pdf with the arrangements /forums/images/icons/wink.gif

"This has got nothing to do with how rich you are, or how you used Office and Excel in the office"

You missed my original point and that was that for years I have sent letters and spread sheets compiled in word and excel on email successfully. between my clients and I. Indeed my office in the UK sends my updated files via email and have done since I came out here.
Ergo these are purely business documents compiled in word and excel.

"But not using pdf reader I am excluding myself from a significant proportion of the internet"?

erm All I wanted was a godamn form, and I cant wait two hours to download the software first and should not have to. Lets leave it there

I did indeed understand your original point. You used Office applications for office requirements. Sending word and excel documents by email, still has absolutely nothing to do with the internet and internet applications, and I rather suspect you are confusing the two.

Quite happy to leave it there, as you really don't seem to want to understand the whys and wherefores of how the internet works today.

bugger all to do with the internet as such just wanted a form in word format thats all, perhaps they should give a choice then we'ed all be happy. Thats it

Some days I wonder how fast my original DOS database programme or Wordstar 2000 running on my old MS-DOS Apricot would be if I could use them now.

For far too many reasons than i care to go into, i for one am delighted that the adobe acrobat format has become so generally accepted for moving documenets around electronically and it has far more significance when working in the graophics and print arenas as I do.
Getting Acrobat Reader installed on your ccomputer is really no big deal bu if you really do prefer to stick with word you can now buy a cheap software package that will let you read/open pdf file in Word:
