An idiot wreaks havoc on a sailing forum. Proprietors of said forum close it, and its sisters down to put in security measures.
A lot of regular contributors go elsewhere leaving a few diehards here. This forum becomes almost a clone of its sister forum R2R "How do I stop my Baby Blake from squeaking?" "What size alternator do I need to supply enough power to keep the chest freezer and microwave running?" etc etc, and a mere shadow of its former self.

Where is the old SB? Has it really become 'Chez Marian?'

So, what happened next?

a) SB & R2R were merged to form Scuttlereader
b) The worm returned and closed the other fora
c) We all woke up and Nige was still ranting
d) Nothing, because no one could be bothered

Moaning really helps...

The quality of the content of the board depends on the contributions of individuals visiting it (and re-visiting). If you have a problem with the quality, then do something about it by posting some threads that meet your standards.

In my opinion, these sort of messages are not achieving anything other than putting more people off.

Let's hope the rubbish stays on Marion's board and the sensible comment here. N'ere the twain shall meet.

Seems to me

Marian's Board has the interesting stuff, whilst here its repetition, repetition repetition repetiiiiiiiii .......yawn ....zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Have a look at the old style SB banter...

...and join in at www.voy.com/27508

They seem to be a fairly friendly bunch, one or two are prone to Eco matters, but most of 'em just talk about boats and sailing. They occassionally get technical when really pushed, and there does seem to be a depth of REAL experience amongst the contributors!

Certainly worth a look and making yourself known!

The Old Bluebeard will have to come back!.

As I have not been my usual unfriendly self I can see I will have to resusitate the Old Bluebeard the one everyone hates!
Just to please those who feel they are missing the old Forum that is!
EEEEeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Well, no-one has asked me...

To put my growler out yet, and I've dropped ash on Marian's nice carpet"

I\'m assuming you mean chez marion....

...all of the forums are dead but the server is not. I am assuming that they have a problem. Their news line says that they have had to do some handcrafting, taking m/cs whilst they do it.

Spring Cleaning Going on at Chez Marians!

VOY COM the system provider for Chez Marians are tidying their systems up. Repairs have been made to software, and the system is due to be back on line later today - or at least that was the context of the e-mail I have just received from their forum administrator. I put it down to the fact they are changing the carpets after Dave Beckett spilt a bottle of Red Wine when coming out of the cellar!!

Re: Spring Cleaning Going on at Chez Marians!

Thanks for that guys

John -- maybe but I reckon Endy didnt apply for planning permission for the new extension !!

Chris -- IT dept removes user access without warning during peak operational time .... hmmm !

Just heard from Dave Beckett that...

...they have just opened the bar at the YellowWelly Brigade!
Looks like it could be well worth a look, especially as David has promised not to spill any Red wine on the carpets!!!

Have a look at www.kafooey.com/ywb/

Re: What goes around...

.....another old thread revived from 5 years ago - what's everyone digging around in the cellar for? (and whatever happened to the Yellow Welly forum? - I can't even remember the url now)
