What Grease - Swing Keel Worm Drive?

I'm posting on behalf of my father who has a Beneteau First 21.7. The manual says grease the worm drive regularly. Access is good and you can wind up the drive to expose the male threads.

The grease on there at the moment looks metalic. Does anyone know what would be best. It looks very similar to some CV (lith-moly) general purpose grease.

Thoughts?

I'd use Ramonol, as I have a can on board, which is used for everything (winches, Blakes seacocks, engine controls etc). This application is not particularly high stress, and the purpose of the grease is just to keep everything moving smoothly, and prevent corrosion and seizure, which any grease will do if applied once or twice a year. In summary use what you've got in the garage.....

So deffo no problem using a lithium based grease in a marine / salt water environment?

Ramonol is a brand name. Which Ramonol grease are you suggesting? Presumably Ramonol White or Ramonol Advanced, but which?

Ramonol white I think. I bought it 8 yrs ago, and still have 1/2 a can left......

Northcave, I'd use lithium grease, if that is what I had. It is almost certainly overkill, but will keep the threads running free and smooth.

It looks as if the grease in the photo has dried out, so I would want to clean it all off if I could. Automotive lithium grease is probably OK but I have some waterproof grease that was supplied for the Maxprop, and think that a soft waterproof grease like that would be very suitable.
