What fast sports cruiser for around £60k Suggestions and links wanted!

Should have said... Whitelighter sent me the links a while back.

Below is a Cranchi 37 in Italy with Kad300s - €79k, or roughly £60k

Personally I am not a fan of the Cranchi's aesthetics, but that is a personal thing, but you seem to want speed &2 cabins at a given price - so this might do it for you:

Finally, an ex-Sealine employee, now broker, told me that putting larger & larger engines was the cause of their problems. If speed is the ultimate goal, I would buy another brand.

I'm no speed freak. Quite happy to really relax back and poodle along at 7-8 knots then around 25 knots if I want to get anywhere. I regularly chill out if on my own in the Binliner with the sounds on and a small drink whilst around Southampton water.
So maybe 32's would be adequate.
The two guys that took their S34 around the UK and then over to Spain seemed to cope well with their Kad32's.
Still got to sell mine yet but will be open minded on which boat suits http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Bayliner-265SB-2005-/131716068518?hash=item1eaae3b4a6:g:FWoAAOSwFqJWrisH

You've just missed out on Shark Bay...

Coincidentally we moved up from Bayliner 285 to Sealine S34. We bought the Bayliner as an experiment. We are based in South Devon and have been to Poole / Salcome and pretty much everywhere in between in it - and absolutely loved it.

In the end we decided we used it so much it was worth investing in the manoeuvrability of twin engines, plus the ability to walk around the boat, plus just a bit more space.

We exchanged on the 23/12 - and the weather have been dire. What we love so far is:
* Diesel heating is amazing :encouragement: :encouragement:
* proper cabins with beds you can walk into, rather than crawl
* space in the saloon...especailly for 2. Lower the table, put the cushion on , and you have created a mini snug :)
* having a proper gas stove is a bit of a game changer too.

There is another version of cable levers that are like what you are on about but they are longer in length than the Edc levers but still have balls on top rather than L shaped handled.
And yes you can change levers.

thanks both; I had a feeling it was something like that

You mention Shark Bay, a boat near my berth.

Before buying my Zaffiro 34 I looked at an S34... I went with the Zaffiro 34

Before buying my Smeraldo 38, I looked at the Smeraldo 37... I went with the Smeraldo 37 (infact the S38 was right next to the Smeraldo 37).

In either case, there was more space in the cockpit of the Cranchi and each had a more practical (after-market) canopy fitted. I also found the trim / over-all finish more elegant and 'stronger' (if that makes any sense). Personally, i'm a big fan of Cranchi, having had 2 without ANY issues (I know it's down to Volvo for the engine good luck).

My next boat will hopefully be a Cranchi Atlantique 40 :)

I don't know if it's been mentioned but the Sealine SC29 is a lovely boat and could comfortably sleep 4 adults. Slightly smaller than what you wanted at 31ft, but they are very up to date with a modern helm position.

Thanks for the suggestions and PMs they have been quite useful.

We have flights booked for Gran Canaria to look at some apartments. On return, we are off to the Med, boat hunting and to compare boats and apartments in the Costa's.

After we have looked around, I think it will be easier to make a decision what to buy!

Hi Cliff,

If you plan to visit the Costa Brava the Easter Boat show in Empuriabrava might be worth a look.

I agree 'where abouts' is a very good question.

To give you a comparison;

Falmouth, last year, was £5200 for 37'. This includes a month ashore at no charge except for the 'lift out and back in' costs.

I couldn't edit my original post as it was too long ago. It made no sense so I have quoted the correct one above :)

Where are you looking to keep the boat?

Well I've been at Ocean Village, Shamrock Quay and now Saxon for last 2 years. Mainly as its an easy 50 minute drive down the M3 for me.
I quite understand the step up in size is reflected in the price but just because its 0.5 of a metre over 10m it jumps a band. ( need to cut a bit off the end :ambivalence:)

£5553 pa on dry stack. Add the fee to pay by DD as i do and its around £5900.
Big jump from £3700 with my current boat.

My boat is 36 foot long kept at Saxon Wharf and its around £6000 storage, But unlimited lifts fuel through MDL at cost,

You also need to factor in that when dry stacked you do not need to antifoul the boat each year, BIG saving. and as I have outdrive they also cost less (I hope) to look after as not sat in the water,

Got to way up the pros and cons but I would save £2,200 by going elsewhere. Thats a few lifts and anti-foul a year.
