What exactly is wrong with Cranchi Endurance 39s

Sunseeker 48 Superhawk Mk.1 / II / 50 Superhawk
Sunseeker 43 Superhawk you can have it in the middle but is ugly
but once I saw a 39 End where they putted the passrelle in the middle spot of the garage, was not so bad, altough far from perfect

may be there is some more but off my mind I remember for these

Ok point taken re. the superhawks, though they're not exactly comparable boats, are they? At least they're much nearer to what a performance boat is supposed to be, compared to the End. 39. Therefore it might be worth sacrificing the passerelle for someone.
Re.the passerelle in the middle of the garage, actually that was an OEM Cranchi optional, but it was manual! They even stated, very clearly, that the structure could not bear an hydraulic one.
That said, of course someone could have arranged to fit it somehow, at his own risk.
Anyway, I rest my case. A pretty basic design mistake, for such kind of boat.

yes case rested

I am sure Cranchi, would tell you million of things not to modify there current optional list
sure all aft structure need reinforcement for a passarelle
I think Cranchi looses a lof of sales for there hard headed behaviour, I know many people who did not buy one because of really no interest in changing or doing some little modification to there perfect production boats...

I had 4 different cranchi’s and now I have Superhawk ? When they say if you’re sitting at the poker table and you don’t know who the idiot is, then it’s probably you........ I am beginning to sympathise ! FWIW I absolutely loved all of my cranchis, They were affordable, not badly made and all the ones I had performed perfectly well, although admittedly they were all Med based and we never spent the night on board until we had a 50 footer ! Sure they were not perfect, but few of us will agree what makes a perfect boat because we all want different things ! I loved the 39 when it came out but couldn’t afford one at the time, and I do remember observing that the gelcoat faded badly and fairly quickly on some of the ones in my locality. I later had a 33 which was the baby brother of the same boat.....and it did 44 knots and handled brilliantly (Incidentally the only new Boat I have ever bought !) and I later had a med 50, which was an absolutely brilliant boat (and did 33 knots with the Volvo D12’s....) . When I sold the 50 I did look at the 41 as a replacement (we were back to day boating) but, as someone said earlier, it felt like a much smaller Boat than anything else I was looking at the time. I ended up buying a wonderful Riva Bravo 38...... now that was a wonderfully made but woefully underpowered Boat ! We had lunch for 11 people in the cockpit, round the table, knives and forks and tablecloths ! Couldn’t do that on a V 42 ( or any sub 50 ft boat I don’t think ! ) .......
Why are the Cranchi 39’s cheap today ? A lot of them are very weary looking and they were very affordable when new ..... I don’t think it’s a particular reflection on them being rubbish or not........ they were never comparable to a Princess V42 in the same way that a Princess is not comparable to a Rivarama 44......

As a big Cranchi fan, i'm going to say that the layout of the Endurance 39 is NOT suited to UK / IRL climate.

Who wants a huge bathing platform in UK / IRL? No-one!

In comparison, the layout of the Zaffiro 34 / Smeraldo 37 is much more practical. I've had 10 people in the cockpit for dinner! Loads of seating (once you get yourself a nice aftermarket canopy) in the cockpit. Down below, 2 berth layout and plenty of space in the Galley etc. Very similar to any other Fairline etc. of it's size. Infact, I find the space in the Smeraldo 37 to be (or certainly, feel) larger than other sports cruisers of similar length.

Finally, I think a large bathing platform is essential, which again the Endurance 39 doesn't have.

Thanks for your reply alt. Im sorry but I do not like the style at all of the Zaffiro or Smeraldo. I can easily buy a Sundancer or Formula PC which I do not like at all. No need for a huge swim platform, I'd rather have that large sun pad and like the style of the Endurance. Are there any other boats of this style, diesel with I/O's? Thanks!

]Not wanting to start an argument( I know out of character :):)) about shafts Vs outdrives but have a look at

Pershing 37 or Itama 38. Above pic
You have not really defined your style , buts that’s hard to personally define .
All we know is what you don think like .

We bought an Endurance 39 in the late 90s and ran it in the Med for something like eight years. Great day boat and fine for a couple of nights but you wouldn’t want to spend a fortnight on one!
Build quality was excellent and apart from replacing the teak on the bathing platform I don’t remember any other major faults. The cockpit upholstery was remarkably good.
Small bathing platform? Yes, but they all were in those days .
Still a good looking boat and far better than the later 41 IMHO.

Same hull but a longer bathing platform . The build quality on the ones that I looked at didn’t seem as good and there were some painted plastic details that just looked a bit tacky.

You don’t say where you intend to use the boat. Or I missed it if you did ! If in the UK, then look at a sea line SC35. Good value, practical boat. If you boat somewhere sunnier then Porto’s suggestion of a Pershing or Itama are also good. You could also look at old Magnum 38 and 40’s, or even the little known Otam 40. These will offer a mixture of engine and drive combos, and if as Porto suggests, there is a separate discussion to have on shafts v outdrive, then don’t mention the words surface and drive in the same sentence or you will kick off a whole new thread on its own.

That's no problem - Everyone has different tastes / requirements.

From what you say your requirements are, i'm guessing you won't be using her in UK (or close) waters? I can't see in your previous posts any mention of cruising area, which will surely have a bearing on your requirements.

For me, it was essential to have a big cockpit for hosting / socalising, and also a big platform. I certainly did NOT want a sun pad!

Hi. I did start a thread but nobody replied http://www.ybw.com/forums/showthread.php?498888-Cranhchi-Endurance-39-Question

Then I found this thread. I boat in the USA. There are not many of these boats in the USA. Tons of Sundancers and Formula PC's. I come from a speedboat background and currently own a 33ft Powerplay. If I was going to shift over to a cruiser, the Endurance 39 caught my eye. I want diesels and like the option of I/O due to the shallow waters here, and shortcuts I will be able to take that you cannot do with inboards.

Also consider the Sunseeker Portofino 35 or the finest boat ever built, the Fairline Targa 34 :) (or Targa 40).

Portofino 35 looks nice, no sunpad in the rear and alot more money. Out of my pricerange. Fairline Targe, 34 is too small, its getting into the PC look which I dont care for, and way too much money. But Thanks!
