What exactly is epoxy filler?

I have used it in the past and now I need to fill some small holes, but it is really expensive. How is it different from the epoxy resin that you use with fibreglass cloth or even epoxy glue?

Just a filler with an epoxy base rather than polyester. You can get various types ready made or mix your own with an appropriate filler for the job. Advantage over fillers like car body filler is that it sticks better. is atwerproof, does not shrink and depending on formulation can be structural or cosmetic.
