what engine is this ?

Looks like a marinised Ford escort 1.3 diesel but I could be wildly wrong. I shall reward myself with a beer if right though :p

I found when I bought a boat with a Yanmah engine that the engine was in a very small engine compartment and there was very little room around it to do any maintenance. The boat was about 20 years old and the fresh water pump was very inaccessible, You could not even see the impeller if you took off the cover plate. The previous owner had a Boatyard do a service, the service sheet said the impeller was "serviceable" I did not believe that a boatyard would miss an opportunity to fit an impeller but the mechanic could ot be bothered.
To get at the pump I had a marine engineer do it and he had to remove loads of engine stuff to get at it, he removed the pump and the Impeller was seriously in a bad condition. Perhaps lasted 10 minutes when out at sea.
So if you can change the impeller as you wont be able to change it when out at sea.
