Evenstar is being lifted for annual maintenance next week so am turning my thoughts on what to use on Drives and Trim Tabs.

Used Trilux last season and was pretty disappointed as the growth was pretty bad down in Brixham.

Am unsure if this was due to a warmer summer or the Trilux ????

Any how what do other folks use, fwiw we have. Bravo 2x drives

Have to say I use Trilux on my B3 but I use the paint on rather than spray version.

Legs do stay clean with a quick wipe every so often. I'm Hamble based so may just be stronger fouling in your area.

As for tabs, I scrape the old antifoul off each year and paint on Cruiser Uno. I've tried primers etc and I find the paint always comes off by the end of the season. I figure if the paint last a few months, then I can just lean over and clean the tabs by hand every month or so.

We are trying Premier paints drive antifoul this year. Our drive has not yet been antifouled as we are lucky enough to be in a low fouling area but its looking a bit past its best now so will try this.

Have used their hull antifoul with good results for the last five years.

We dont bother painting the trim tabs, they just get a wipe down every now and again then a quick scrape when the boat is lifted.

Me too, I've used Trilux on my Targa 40 for the last 6 years and never had growth like last summer. In the Itchen, we also has loads of molasky worms all over the drives. I must have been down over the rear of the swim platform 5 or 6 times with a plastic scraper and broom. :ambivalence:

I wasn't the only one either, it' one of the problems of warmer water and a better summer I suppose.

I used the Trilux spray stuff, because it looks better and you get a smoother finish.
But it's not that great at actually keeping the wormy things at bay, and I end up spending a few hours each year scraping the damn things off.
It seem to work well until late August, then the wormy things and mini-volcanos take over.

Trilux, but lots of it from the tin, not any useless spray concoctions.
Actually seemed to have less growth last season, but maybe we were just on the move more.

Looks like South Coast has had similar fouling, previously Trilux has been fine. Might go with White on the drives to help see the growth, with black drives it blends in lol

I use cruiser uno on the hull, Nothing on the tabs or drive..
I had the boat taken out on Friday last week, bit of slime on the hull, but all last years Uno has gone. with all the weed
Little bit of growth on the tabs, as I hav nt scrubbed since October, maybe 1/2 inch
Same on drive, plus, bit brown slime..
Lucky I suppose.. Plus I use the boat a lot, which helps..

Outdrive, in the past I have used Premier Outdrive antifouling, worked well. The biggest problem with self polishing paint, if you wipe the slim off you take the paint with it. Last year tried trilux and seems okay, but like RR on the Itchen, I have to scrap it a few times throughout the season.

I use Trilux 33 from a tin. 2 coats so it is nice and thick and will stand a few scrub offs. I also slap it on the prop as well. It works really well in the Solent even in barnacle years. However, if you think of anti-fouling a mechanism for making it easier to remove slime and growth and not as a total prevention mechanism your expectations will be better set.

Just a thought from the Med based crews.....

Sant Carles is well known for fouling and the only real answer for sterndrives is fitting plastic bags over them. Not pretty but 100% effective and very cheap compared to all the paints etc. In the UK just need to invest in a dry/suit and "job's a good un"
