What do you love (and adore) about your boat?

I loved my Code 5. The "Happy Sail". Because every time it came out of the bag, we were going to go fast.

And I loved Britney, the autopilot (Britney Steers).

And boats are just inanimate objects like tools? ;) Seems you had plenty of imaginary friends on passage with you :p

That moment when you have hoisted the sails and switch off the engine.....

+1

I love the feel of the helm on my boat; I have sailed a fair few other boats, and so have chums, but they all agree 'the way she talks to you via the tiller' is unmatched; I'm not saying she or I am perfect, but if she'll put up with me, I'm more than happy with her !

1) She's a boat!

2) She draws next to nothing with the keel up.

3) Cheap AWB to some, maybe. But gets far more use from me and the family than something grander ever would.

I love my:
Rocna
Oversized ensign
Anchor ball that hasn't seen day light
My iPad which I use for navigation
And the skipper for heading out in a forecast force 11 :D

No, they're still just tools. Tools that make me happy, and that do a job very well. Never spoke to them because - well, they're just tools to do a job.

Code 5 is a very flat cut spinnaker. Very fast sail in reaching conditions.

You must be incredibly wealthy if you think a boat gives you freedom! Even with my cheap boat I now have no option but to carry on working to keep it.

No not wealthy at all, and you need to have the constraints of work to be able to appreciate the freedom that the boat gives you, when you enjoy it at weekends or for your summer hols. If you had wealth and all the time in the world to spend on your boat, going sailing would be just another day, its the contrast that counts.

Being chained to a desk for 47 weeks of the year is why an AWB is the perfect boat for me.

My family are more likely to join me on the boat in my scarce holiday if it's designed for comfort and marinas - and less likely to insist that I spend a fortnight somewhere sunny instead. I get my time on the water in the mornings, afternoons a spent exploring ashore and evenings eating out.

Sure, it's not quite the stuff of sailing legends but it sure beats a beach in Spain.

I just love that I have a boat.

I am so grateful to my wife and kids for allowing me the time and money to be able to follow my dream.

I also feel lucky to be able to keep her on a marina close to home. I get to go play at doing jobs a couple of times a week as well as sailing time in the summer.

So, what do I love about my boat.... that she is MY boat!

I love the way I can trust our boat to look after us, she'll take what ever the weather will throw at us and look after us - lots of polished wood work below which glows in the light of cool light L.E.D. ;) In addition she is comfortable down below, plenty of room and a cockpit big enough that I can lay fully stretched out for my afternoon nap

Sounds just like ours!

I adore that my boat is my home, and has been for over three years now. She has been with me through a lot of good times, not-so-good-times, and lots of change. We've stuck together and come out in a good place, and I'm looking forward to many more adventures aboard her.

But if I had to pick a few particular features which I love, I would go for:

- The fact she is a ketch
- Her beautiful douglas fir bowsprit, lovingly adorned with nine coats of varnish
- The raised saloon and extra light this allows in
- The layout, giving three separate living areas
- Her solid teak gunwhales
- The Eberspacher...................... hahahaha, joke!!!
