i own a Sealine S25 which for a long time has been leaking into the carpet down int the galley area i had always thought this leak was from a internal water system leak it now appears this is not the case as the water is coming into the bilge from the rear of the boat (i think) as there was about 6-8 inches in the bilge which i sponged out could you advise how i could go about findind the source of this leak as it appears it could be a difficult one to locate thaks for your time....

evening. allways start at the easyest things first. check all skin fittings eg. depth sounder, toilet stopcocks etc if your on salt water check if bilge is fresh water (taste it). i know someone with a similar prob, and it turned out to be rain leeching in around the windscreen. hope this gives you some ideas if not the answer. good hunting.

Check all connections and hoses to shower (bathing platform)when you have the water turned on the master electric panel. On my S24 it has a plastic T piece connecting hot and cold taps(shower mixer) that had a small split in it last year causing same problem as yours.Do you hear the pump running with all taps turned off ?

If you think it might be domestic fresh water, empty plenty of food colouring into it, won't harm you, but will show up. Good way to check for leaks from engine fresh water system as well.

I had a leak last year like this. I blamed SHMBO for showering the door to the bog. Even looked at modifications.

The new carpet became mildewed and had to be replaced.

Turned out to be a loose nut on a tap.

On my S24 I had a similar problem with water getting into the bilge only when it was "rough" seas really, it turned out the water was back feeding through the bilge pipe, all I did was install a non-return valve (the pipe does have a "loop" in it but was not enough or I going out too often in poor conditions).

I also had a leak through a vent where the bathing platform ladder is located (blower pipe), this was fixed by using sealant.

This might not be what you have but just demostrating the many ways you can get a leak.

I use a hose pipe around the boat section by section if I want to check to see if it is an external leak.

sounds very interesting scuba as the water seems to only build in the bilge whilst in rough conditions ,i have also found if im going fast and then suddenly stop the boat by bringing it into neutral i get a large abount of water in the bilge.
