I've been scouring the internet for a fortnight looking for some more of these - they form boxes inside the cabin that contain the wires etc that stick through from the instruments that are stuck to the outside of the cabin. Any idea as to what they'd be called - I just can't find them to search for..?

It looks more like something you can crack your head on . . . .

Its a (wiring) enclosure but I doubt if you will find a wooden one off the shelf

Yeah, done that.

If you sent the picture and measurements to KJ Howells in Poole they might quote you to make one.

Thanks LIB, but I don't think I could stretch to that. Postage might be a little much too...

I am convinced that I've seen stuff like this on a chandlery website off the shelf, hence my question. But I admit I'm nonplussed. There's a boat scrappers nearby. Maybe I'll give them a call. Seems a shame to have cables all over the place, and I like it as a solution.

Thanks for your help folks!

If you are trying to cover the rear of instruments I used instrument covers screwed to bulkhead to cover them. But I had a void I could run the wires through, all depends on the boats construction.

If you type "wooden boxes for sale' into Google or eBay you will find a lot of wooden boxes for sale. Perhaps one could be adapted, very low cost, varnish would preserve the box from the damp.
