What do I need to install gas supply to cooker?

The upside was that you could take the whole thing on deck to change the bottle.
You could also remove the entire gas installation for surveys, or if your boat was being checked for suitability to overwinter in the Crinan Canal. To choose an example entire at random.
Something like that in the lazarette offers zero protection against the problem of a regulator or bottle leaking while you are changing it. Which I'm told is not that rare.
Maybe, but I don't think that's really the point. A leak when you're changing is relatively unimportant, because the gas will dissipate very fast from an open locker. It's slow leaks into confined spaces which cause the problems.
 
Last question, my propane regulator accepts 8mm bore gs tubing, which I have. The tail on the gimballed plastimo is 8mm. I'll put a short length of flexible tube on the cooker tail as it will swing about. Do I need 8mm copper pipe? or 8mm bore? The reson I ask is the old copper pipe I removed from the old cooker seems to be 6mm with a 4mm bore.
And do I use compression fittings to join the flexi tubes at each end of the system to the copper piping?

8 mm copper tube is 8 mm OD
To connect 8mm hose to it you will need 8mm compression to 8mm hose nozzle fittings but you may discover that Imperial sized stuff is easier to find, In which case use 5/16"

Use "mini hose clips" rather than worm drive, "Jubilee" type, hose clips if you can to secure the hose to the nozzles

Thought I’d give an update on this as it popped back up when someone liked a post.
I never did sort out any kind of gas locker, the rest of the install went well though.
But once I added a diesel heater to the boat, with the exhaust coming through the lazarette, sharing it with petrol fuel cans and a propane gas cylinder I was getting a bit itchy about it all. The gas system has been removed and replaced with an alcohol stove.
The cooker and gas bottle will probably hit the for sale section when I can be bothered.
 
When I got my boat, the gas cylinder was just in a box in the cockpit locker, no drain overboard. I remade the box and lifted it up so you can easily replace and change a cylinder(holds 2 cylinders). Because I raised it the drain went out the side of the boat not the transom. Then copper pipe to the cooker with an on/off tap behind the cooker. I always turn off the gas at the cylinder. Also made a lid for the box which prevents the cylinders moving. I have recently fitted a marine regulator and replaced hoses. All to the spec for inland waterways.
 
FWIW; i spoke to a gas engineer to arrange check and certificate for insurance company.Gas locker with overboard drain, shut off valve adjacent to cooker, braided line adjacent to gimballed cooker to avoid slicing pipe [it can't] and a marine grade regulator.

Surveyor had a look at our gas installation and noted no shut off valve at cooker. Evidently with only one appliance and cooker directly piped to regulator no shut off, except at bottle, is required.
