At Sebago, our shoes are crafted from a rich tradition - part New England no-nonsense style, part timeless romance of the sea. All stitched perfectly in the hard-working Maine heritage of forestry and farming, shoemaking and seafaring.
Sebago was founded in Maine over fifty years ago by three veteran shoemakers. Sebago continues to set the highest standards for classic American styling. Our footwear is unique by virtue of our hands-on manufacturing techniques, proprietary processes, quality materials, and timeless styling.
The Sebago loafer, first presented by the company as the 'Sebago moc', applies the craftsman's touch to beautifully handsewn footwear using genuine moccasin construction. From the traditional penny to stylish kilties and Venetians - the loafer remains a versatile American classic. Sebago also created and patented the welt construction process used in many of these handsewns to provide maximum fit and comfort.
The rugged coast of Maine and its hundreds of lakes inspired the popular Docksides® boat shoe, first introduced by Sebago over 30 years ago. While the original design with rawhide lacing and genuine rubber sole is still popular today, Sebago continues to update this line of casual and performance footwear with technical and design innovations that make it a great choice on land and on sea for the entire family.
Making handsome, classic footwear for men, women and children is key to the reputation that Sebago enjoys in the United States and in over one hundred countries around the world. Sebago customers know that their shoes fit well and last, whether they are sailing, working, or strolling down a country lane. So many times, so many places. Sebago fits.
And not a mention of where they're actually made you'll note!
Just wait until you tread on some junkies dumped syringe!! I wont and forbid my crew to walk around off the boat without shoes, too dangerous! Dont walk around without shoes down here. You should know better young lady!
Bought them from a swindlers in a heary when debs first invited me to her boat, thought shit!! 60 quid for five minutes wear. But there the best shoes I've ever bought. Always bought leather normal shoes before, never again!!

I generaly wear Sebago on a boat and have had poor experience of other cheaper brands as they dont last.
The only exception is Sperry Topsiders which I purchased from US boats in Florida when I was there.
The basic ones that look like an original Sebago with leather insoles etc are the best and last equaly well as sebago and the soles stay grippy and dont polish like some cheaper brands.
Sperry are made in china and cost about 55 US$ a pair and are excellent but dont buy the ones with the woven insole.
Can't do barefoot around Porthmadog harbour. The Seagulls have learned that a mussell dropped from about 50 feet smashes to pieces on the ground. They then eat the contents, leaving razor sharp shell pieces to slice into your feet.
Now where's my airgun?
