To go back to the point of Steve's post, to me, she's a cracking looking boat with a great spec, but perhaps "old fashioned" full keeled boats, probably not very beamy, aren't what a lot of people are looking for nowadays. It's the "invisible hand" again. Perhaps the big brand names give a level of comfort and spaciousness that MABs cannot, and that this is now a deciding factor for many.

Personally, I prefer the more traditional lines. If I wanted a good solid boat for all conditions, I'd feel happy with "Battle".

I presume this is also advertised in the CA mag - a great source for some real heavy duty boats imho.

I suspect it may just be that boat prices are lower in the Med? There may not be such a market for good British cruisers out there and to tempt a British buyer to make the effort to go and have a look you need to offer a healthy discount?

If you know the chap it might be worth pointing out to him that some of the links don't work properly under some version of Firefox. Coild put some off.

Someone should email him and suggest he tones the green down using a software package, I suspect his onboard laptop screen lacks colour vibrancy and he has compensated for this without realizing how luminous the green canvas work looks on a normal screen.

And what's up with the green cushion seats perched on top of the coamings? The live-aboard owner must understand their utility but to the circumspect buyer they say beware inventor at work.

Now i feel a bit bad: for an older boat, surelya prospective buyer *needs* to see that the boat has had the attention and tlc? And that boat definitely has,so that wouldn't put me off, just the colour...

I have been reading his cruising log today, good stuff even though it is a little heavy on facts.

They set off spring 1998 so it is highly likely they feel they have fully explored that lifestyle. After 9 years a decision to do something else, even non boaty, should be considered a positive decision.

I think macaroons are the finishing touch. Much better than the piles of engine parts on seats that most eBayers seem to think will be an attraction to punters.

However I think it's not cheap for an old, and old-fashioned, boat. Whilst it's got lots of gear. It's well used, innit?

I think you may be on to something here. I would seem that swmbo has made yet *another* two trays of macaroons - yet none of them have been touched, pinched or even slightly nibbled. Perhaps he's sick of the things and selling the boat is the only way out.

Alternatively, the macaroons are part of the extensive on-board gear mentioned. Could they be used as a series drogue perhaps?

Steve without seeing her, it sounds about right. In looking for our current boat, we looked at loads of Oceanlords that had had years on the atlantic circuit. No matter how well they were looked after, they looked tired. We opted finally (for almost the same money) for a boat that had never travelled very far from its marina - and had had £64K spent in the last 3 years.

Also if it is located in the med, its price will be lower will it not?
