As a novice and new-ish owner of a Mirage 2700 I was too nervous to use the cruising chute on last weekend's club cruise, but this left me way behind the ones who did.
On investigation of the chute bag there are no sheets included. What size and type of sheet is recommended please and any other additional rigging required? There is a spare masthead halyard at the front of the mast.

12 m/m braid on braid, the matt finish is nicer to handle.
you will also need a line ideally from the cockpit to the sail tack via a block & i would use the same type of line for this too
snap shackles on both lines & halliard too

12mm spini sheets on a boat that size? Will that not make them a bit heavy especially in light airs. I know they are nicer to handle being a bit thicker, but they will not be quite heavy dragging on the clew of the chute. On my 36ftr 8mm are quite sufficient. Not disagreeing or anything, just asking? :)

Tend to agree with ripster - we have 12mm for our 140m2 chute and the weight of the sheets is a nuisance in light winds. Probably a reflection of our cautiousness and you may be braver but the loads on the chute sheets in the conditions in which we would use them do not feel anything like as great as on the genny in a bit of wind.

I have a mirage2700 , got a spinnaker but never used it, sheets for it are 12mm but I suspect that's a bit overkill and 8-10mm would be fine for it. The same should apply to your cruising chute.

Thanks to all for your feedback and assistance.
I am set to sail on my boat with a fellow club member on Friday afternoon who has agreed to rig my Cruising Chute with his sheets and we can experiment and play in the light airs forecast :o
