Had great fun with the Targa 43 last week, really like those boats for cruising, great hull.

Absolute 45, pure grin factor and sorry trev for making your knuckles so white.

was on a 34 I think Doral, in a bump Solent chop, nice little boat and fun too. just has a very big bathing platform /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

A Squadron 58 , real lady and what comfort. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Trader 64 I think, a great boat to handle and a solid ride not much would move her. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I was playing with the RYAs rib a couple of weeks ago, great acceleration, and take the sea well. grin factor again.

So what ones do you like. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Sealine S29
had a couple of raggies on board on Monday (short trip from Oostende to Neuiwpoort)

On leaving Oostend we needed to do a 90 degree turn

so at 25 Kts I did...
Full lock...
no drift and very comfortable...

scared the raggies a bit /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Sits above most waves....but i do get a bit wet if its wind against tide....

with ALL the problems i had/have i still love her

The nice thing about boats is that they're nearly all fun to helm, in different ways. You have probably helmed 10x as many different types as me but they're all different and lots of fun. Any small ish RIB or centre console with a massive 200+ outboard is piles of fun. The Avon 320jet, one person to keep weight down, is a hoot if you build up full speed WOT in a straight line then throw full lock. A Laser, or Tornado cat, is a scream. Anything bigger than 40ft gets ploddy though, imo. I've helmed TCM's Leopard 23m, Ferretti 731, Mirabella V, my own Sq58s and they're all sedate, not the sort of things that "handle" well or can be thrown around, but still very nice and sedate machines to be on at sea. Glad you like the Sq58, though from a helming point of view it is loads better if you drive one with the jfm Recaro seat mod :-)

MF is fun helming. First you have to work out how much oil you will loose, or whether it's far more sencible to use the auto pilot. Then work out how much crap there is in the cellar. I mean, you can turn. But is it worth it!! MOstly it's better to go in straight lines. Besides, theres nothing to see if you go the other way. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Thundercat / Zapcats - I love my Thundercat and it's about the only thing I own that I can safety say is NOT for sale!

You mean like this, ya doughnuting hooligan /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Actually, commercialism aside one of the best handling 45 footers ever, huge grin factor, fling it round like a go kart or nice and steady cruisey . Absolute shame no longer in production /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

For scooting around the Solent in nasty chop has to be Botina Targa 33 , For sheer pose value and fatastic day boat for SoF MD Dolphin 51, nicest handling IPS boat, lovely soft ride.

PS agree JFM's S58, v nice in cruise mode, very swish !

Oh...

and I recall a certain person helming a rib at SIBS and throwing the throttles forward on the turns....as there was some rule about speed.... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Top one in Dublin City is a sad pic for us as the blonde girl on board is none other than Katie French RIP.

The second pic is happy times running up the IOM coast in SV2 - even though it looks like were running downhill /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I like the Fleming 55, sheer enjoyment is a Hunton 43. My little Solitaire (Fairline Sprint) was great fun to helm. I hate S23/25's! They drive like pregnant whales. Horrible little things! Magnum's Cougar rib was a thrill. Windy Kamsin and I love the Targa range. And I think the Absolutes are pretty good on IPS.

It's difficult to compare - flybridge vs sportsboats, shafts vs outdrives. Just like some more than others.

I like to helm a boat in a sea, that's the real test.

The Targa 44 is cool!

Was just thinking that those pics were taken in Dublin City - you knacker! Why was Katy on-board, doing promo work?

That while flybridge thingy looks familar too - think I recognise the mug on top driving her /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Haven't had any problems with mine? Am I doing something wrong? (Or right?)

Any of the Sunseeker hawks (super/thunder/toma) similar to the Hunton for performance and thrills. Oh and the Cigarette 39 Top Gun...

Oy /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif
S28's are only capable of sedately trundling up and down the harbour at 8kts or less.
No 25kt doughnuts! (that's my job /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif)

dv.

Totally agree, and just fitted two new 1,000hp blown V8's in our Nortech 36, so will be having fun on seatrials soon /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
