What boat started it for you?

'What started it for you'?
Well, I checked the fuel system then checked the kill switch
It was in neutral so I took the spark plug out
Held it and turned the engine over
Me 'air' stood on end
So I looked for the 'Mechanical Component'
Found it and it started
I,ve started so I 'll finish

Aged 14 (1962) and spending summer with parents. My father was WO RAF Regiment responsible for the Marine Craft Unit at RAF North Front Gibraltar. Took me out on the their TTL ( target towing launch) a 60' MTB up the coast of Spain to provide targets for Canberra bombers. So exciting cruising at 40 knots, the Rolls Royce screaming out behind us and the Canberras coming in for close runs. Stopped for lunch and a 15' shark nestled to to the aft deck to try his luck with the slops slung overboard by the cook. As the free board on the deck was only 18" I got an (overly) close encounter.
Then next day sent me out with his inshore rescue team on their new Zodiac Rib for the morning.
Unforgetable holiday and changed my life forever. Compltely sold on powerboats there after.

Like many I have my Dad to blame for our boating bug!
After a holiday on the Norfolk broads in 1990 (when I was 9!) they bought a Birchwood 27 Countess in 1992. We spent most summer weekends and longer holidays on the River Trent and surrounding rivers before moving to the Norfolk broads for a few seasons. I then went to uni, sister and brother were wanting to do other things and they moved home and so they came out of boating for a while.

In 2005 my to be wife and I had a long break on the broads and again in 2007, 2008. In 2010 we changed scenery and did the Caledonian canal in a leaky old tub. On the way home we weighed up spending a bit of money (10K max) and buying something. In the end we accidentally doubled the budget and bought a Sealine S24 in October 2010. Last year we upgraded to our current S28 in the knowledge we had twins on the way. They were born last april and spent their first weekend afloat in May :)

We managed 68 nights afloat in 2014 and hope to beat that this year!!
