What bits for a Dremel to polish slightly corroded stainless steel

As I mentioned, surface oxidisation looks brown like rust, but a bit of Cif or similar on a cloth - or Scotchbrite as long as it's a thing which will never need plumbing - will have it shiny again.

My stainless steel stanchions are 37 years old and go brown in their deck sockets, but a quick clean has them looking like new.

Fatigue stress is another matter ! I had a homemade stainless ' U bolt ' chainplate ( fortunately a less important lower shroud ) fail on me; I realised afterwards it was probably due to my putting an unfair sideways load on it previously, lashing the boat to it tight to a pontoon for stability when a chum went up the mast.

The boat got a refit after that, with oversize Wichard U bolts...
